Scania is one of the oldest and best selling cargo truck manufacturers in Sweden. Scania trucks are exported all over the world, including Iran. The company has been manufacturing heavy vehicles (such as buses, trucks and tractors and diesel engines) since 1900. The trucks of this brand are produced and launched in four series include R, P, S, G and L. Each of these models has its own characteristics and advantages. In this article we are going to introduce and review different series of Scania trucks.
Types of Scania Trucks: P Series
One of the products of Scania brand is P series heavy vehicles that are used for construction, distribution or urban services. The first truck of P series was launched in 2004. Naturally, since then, more new products have been made by this brand, which are classified under the P series of trucks. One of the differences between the products in this series is the size of the cabins.
For instance, fire engines and ambulances that have a larger cabin are also included in this series. But the engine of this type of heavy vehicles has less power than other Scania trucks.

Engine power: Scania uses 220 to 500 hp engines to produce P series trucks. Engine volume in P series trucks has reached 13 litters.

Another type of Scania truck is the G series. These trucks are used for workplace and to carry cargoes such as liquids and fuels. The company first launched G series products in 2007. These types of trucks are produced for long distances. For this reason, it has comfortable cabins for driver and passengers.

Scania Truck: R Series
Other Scania truck models include the R Series. The first product of this series was produced in 2004. It is interesting to know that due to the unique design and other features related to engine power and pieces, this series of Scania products were selected as the top truck of the year in 2005 and 2010.
In Iran, the R420 is one of the most popular Scania trucks in the R series.

Engine status: Scania Company has used engines between 280 to 730 hp to produce this type of product. The use of such a powerful engine has given the truck a load capacity up to 44 tons. On the other hand, these trucks are also considered as a strong competitor of Volvo FH and Mercedes-Benz Actros. To produce this series of Scania trucks, two types of engines with volumes of 13 and 16 litters have been used. The 13-liter type is the same as the 6-cylinder engine and the 16-liter type is the same as the 8-cylinder engine.

Appearance: R Series trucks are larger than P and G series products. Other appearance features of these products include prominent horizontal lines, LED daytime running lights and new bumpers. Scania has tried to use aerodynamic standards to produce this product. To produce this series of products, Scania has considered 5 types of cabins that have been selected according to the use of the truck.
Scania Truck: S Series
Another type of Scania truck is the S series, which was launched in 2016 for long-haul transport .Due to their use in long trips, Scania has applied all aerodynamic standards for this series of products.

Engine status: To produce these Scania truck models, two 6-cylinder engines with a volume of 13 litters and an 8-cylinder with a volume of 16 litters have been used. The S-Series engines have 6-cylinder between 370 to 500 hp. Scania has used SCR technology to produce the engine of these products. The 16-liter 8-cylinder engines in this series of Scania trucks also have a power between 520 to 730 hp. The S series trucks have two models of 8-speed and 12-speed gearboxes.

Engine status: Scania has used 9-liter 5-cylinder engines with 280 to 360 hp to produce this group of products. The fuel consumption of L series trucks is 4% lower than previous products. Also, some other trucks in this series have 280 to 340 hp engines (gas type).
